Catherine's Oregon Trail Diary
"The Oregon Trail Diary of Hattie Campbell" is a very well written diary. I have been reading the book for almost three weeks and I would say that it gives you a very well idea of what it was like to go on this trail. It begins with a young thirteen year old girl whose family decides to move to Oregon. It was very emotinal yet in some ways entertaining, like how the girl's uncle dies or when on the trail they have to eat pancakes that have mosquitoes on them. It describes the journey in very good detail with all the different things that happened and all the people they meet. In my opinion it is very interesting to see the differences in how people moved to new places and how they got there and where they were going. In the beginning it is slightly slow and dull but as you begin to read it becomes very "grabbing" like it takes you in on this girl's feelings and life changing experiences.
