Leslie's first post

This book is called,Color Me Dark.It is about an 11 year old girl and what she writes in her diary.Nellie Lee Love lives in Chicago,Illinois,In the early 1919.In the beginning she writes that she wishes she could be darker so she and her sister would look more alike.She said that she loves her sister but everyone tells them they look nothing alike,and this upsets her.Everyone tells her that she is the prettiest out of the twins.When i read that i felt sad for her.I feel that it doesn't matter if your darker or lighter its whats inside that matters.I think that everyone is beautiful in there own way.Later she talks about how she loves EVERY RELATIVE,she doesn't have a favorite.She also wrote about having a black school and a white children school.I don't like racism,so i was very upset that this was going on way back in her time.
