Nick- First Entry Post

In the books, so far there has been a lot of tension between characters and there has been a lot of fighting, some of which wasnt by the main characters and wasnt documented in the book. The author has to make decisions about fighting and who and when to shoot. there was a big problem fairly early in the story. the narrator and his unit fire at what they think is the confedarates who are the enemy. They later find out that the soldiers they have fired at are their own soldiers. Lt. Toms who is the lieutenant of the unit of the narrator gerts in trouble for the incident. He is accused of being irresponsible. Later they return to battle ready to fight but cautious about who they fire upon. They lie and wait to fire. They can hear the real battle far off in the west. They cross the Rapidan River at 4 o' clock on November 26 which is Thanksgiving. The narrator later sees a shadow and remembers the incident what happened at Gettysburg when they shot their own solidiers. He runs toward the shadow with his musket aimed at the shadows stomach. He hears something begin to crackle. He lets out a startling scream but finds out the shadow is Lt. Toms. That part of the book was the best part for me. There was a lot of drama and suspense. On November 27, they march double time untill they catch up with the rest of the 122 unit. Lt. Toms revieved a personal "well done" from Capt. Clapp. On December 5, the narrator drills in the morning and chopped wood in the afternoon. This part of the book was boring and there was no action. On december 6 He does the same and reads the newpaper and avoids Shelp.
