The Journal of Joshua Loper
This about slaves and how they went on a cattle drive. It involves what they had to do if they lost time they had to go to go ten mile for one problem. It tells us they had poor food and they ate unhealthy. They had stew with only carrots for sides grits with cornbread dipped in hot lard drippings or known as animal fat.
My thoughts
That this journal is sad to hear what happened that they had poor meals and so much work. The journal writer was actually happy to be on the trail away from the fields. There was only one thing he missed and it was his mom. The writer says that his father was transported to another field and left them twenty dollar gold coins the most money they ever seen.
